A walking experience from historic to modern Ercolano. Interact with the local community and learn about local traditions, the golden mile and the vintage market!

Since the 18th century Herculaneum has been famous worldwide for its historical and archaeological heritage. Since then, millions of visitors every year come to admire the Archaeological Park and Vesuvius National Park.

But Ercolano is more than just this.

Through our tour, the first of its kind in Ercolano, we will tell you about the many other layers of history and tradition of this pearl of Southern Italy. From its medieval past, to the 17th-century Baronia, the discovery of the ancient roman town, the first excavations, the Grand Tour, the Golden Mile up to the post-World War II period and more recent stories of redemption from organized crime. Of course, there will also be references to music, traditions and intangible heritage, all attributes that contribute to making Ercolano such a fascinating city.

Lasting about two hours, the walking tour will take us through the historic centre and its most characteristic alleyways, discovering the vintage market of Resina and meeting the local community.

“A new, beautiful experience carried out by people who do not only want to redevelop but rather reawake an area that has been asleep for years due to neglect and more. An area which is however rich in history, tradition, and human values. And here's Ciro selling sells second-hand clothes inviting you into his shop to admire its hidden parts (...), the elderly lady pointing out ancient vestiges that have been there for a hundred years or more, someone showing you a hidden shrine, fans singing Nino D'Angelo with you while they hold up blue soccer banners. Full speed ahead and thank you for being there and showing us such beautiful things.”
