Participatory Architecture Workshop

The Participatory Architecture Workshop involves the youth of the parish and the Association "Noi Oratorio Il Granellino" in creating a transformation of the space behind the Parish of SS. Rosario, known as "Aret 'A Villetta," through a participatory process divided into three modules.

First Module: Analysis

Activities:

  • Analysis of the space and its current functions
  • Identification of the participants' needs and desires
  • Brainstorming and discussion on possible interventions
  • Definition of project objectives

Second Module: Project Proposals and Planning

Activities:

  • Development of project proposals based on ideas from the first module
  • Presentation and discussion of proposals with the participants
  • Selection of the final proposal
  • Preparation of a detailed work plan
  • Division into work teams

Third Module: Transformation

Activities:

  • Implementation of self-construction interventions with the youth of the association “Noi Oratorio Il Granellino”
  • First phase: Creation of wooden seats using recycled materials (donated by local companies) and setup of the "chit-chatt" area (a place for gathering and socializing) with atmospheric lights and a photo board behind the seats.
  • Second phase: Painting of the Campetto area and creation, using colored lines, of a basketball court with the "Noi Granellino" logo in the center.

Results:

  • Creation of a multifunctional and welcoming space for the parish youth, suitable for socializing and sports activities.
  • Development of active citizenship and participation skills, along with manual abilities in all phases of implementing practical interventions: from design to budget management and creation.
  • Enhancement of the sense of community belonging and care for the territory.

The Participatory Architecture Workshop "Aret 'A Villetta" demonstrates how participatory architecture can contribute to the improvement of community spaces, fostering sociality, a sense of belonging and care for the territory.
