From the 5th to the 8th of September you are invited to four evenings dedicated to cinema, set in the magical atmosphere of the newly restored Piazza Carlo di Borbone, at the core of a district that is experiencing a remarkable urban regeneration thanks to the initiative led by the Packard Humanities Institute, the Archaeological Park and the Municipality of Ercolano. This project focuses on the areas surrounding the ancient city, Via Mare and Via Cortili.
"Rear Window" was created with the aim of transforming Piazza Carlo di Borbone into a community centre, under the windows of the surrounding houses and just above the ancient city of Herculaneum. The aim is to make this space a meeting point where families, friends and visitors can gather to share the emotions of cinema. In this way, the square becomes the stage for an experience rich in emotion and culture, capable of creating new memories in a space that is both historic and modern.

The name of the festival, Rear Window (La Finestra Sul Cortile), is inspired by the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock film of the same-named title. It's not only a tribute to the cinematic masterpiece, but also reflects the geographical location of the festival: Via Cortili. Following the urban regeneration project that opened up the square overlooking the ancient city of Herculaneum and the bay of Naples, the space is now seamlessly integrated into the daily life of the surrounding neighbourhood. Through this festival, it symbolises the link between the world of cinema and local reality. The event invites people to look out of their windows into the new worlds offered by cinema, fostering a shared experience of space and ideas for both residents and visitors.
"Rear Window" is organised by Europictures and Variabile K, under patronage of the Municipality of Ercolano, in collaboration with the Ercolano Archaeological Park, the Herculaneum Conservation Project and the entire local community.
